Lady Midnight Snippets
"Emma swallowed. She was remembering Julian, two years ago, standing in the overlapping circles of fire where the parabatai ritual was performed. The look on his face as they each stepped into the central circle and the fire rose up around them, and he unbuttoned his shirt to let her touch the stele to his skin and carve the rune that would bind them together for their whole lives. She knew if she just reached out now, she could touch it, touch the rune cut into his shoulder, the rune she had put there …"
Mark whirled on them. His eyes were blind, unseeing. “You bring the twins in front of me and you kill them over and over. My Ty, he doesn’t understand why I can’t save him. You bring me Dru and when she laughs to see the fairytale castle, all ringed round with hedges, you throw her against the thorns until their pierce her small body. And you bid me wash in Octavian’s blood for the blood of an innocent child is magic under the Hill.” "

Magisterium
Cassandra Clare is teaming up with her friend Holly Black (TheSpiderwickChronicles) to create an amazing middle-grade fantasy called Magisterium.

What Cassie says about Magisterium:

"Twelve-year-old Callum Hunt has grown up knowing three rules by heart.
Never trust a magician. Never pass a test a magician gives you. And never let a magician take you to the Magisterium.

Call is about to break all the rules. And when he does, his life will change in ways he can’t possibly imagine.
The Iron Trial is the first book in an epic fantasy series that I’m cowriting with Holly Black.  The Iron Trial, will be released in September 2014 by Scholastic Books. Four books will follow, one for year of Call’s life from twelve to seventeen, as he comes of age in a world where child apprentices train to be warriors and dark magicians seek to defeat even death. There’s not much else I can say about the books yet, as I’m sworn to secrecy, but I’ve always wanted to write with Holly, and I can definitely say the collaboration has produced characters I love and a story I hope you’ll find as funny, dark, adventurous and unexpected as I do."

 Cassandra Clare's Back On Tour!

Cassandra Clare and Holly Black will be visiting the following places to introduce The Iron Trial, the first book in the Magisterium series.

Confirmed Places:
Sao Paulo (August 23/24, 3:30 pm)

Since casting its leading lady just months ago, The 5th Wave film seems to be moving along much quicker than most YA adaptations these days, as it now has a release date along with its leading men. Announced recently on The 5th Wave’s twitter page were the actors who will star as Ben Parish and Evan Walker. Because the book is told in multiple perspectives, fans of Yancy’s latest sci-fi know much about these two characters.
Nick Robinson (known for his roles in Frenemies, a Disney TV movie, and ABC Family’s Melissa and Joey) was cast as Ben Parish, Cassie’s crush in the beginning of the novel.

Alex Roe (known for his role in The Calling) was cast as Evan Walker, Cassie's love interest. Many fans were outraged by this casting because he "didn't fit the look they imagined." This is unfortunately a reoccurring issue throughout many YA adaptations. Countless times have fans been unconvinced by looks, only to change their minds once seeing the actual films. Hopefully this will be the case once The 5th Wave hits theaters.

Along with the announcement of its leading men, The 5th Wave has been given a release date! Fans, mark your calendars and clear your schedules for January 29th, 2016.

Though this is far into the future, Cassie, Ben, and Evan will be ever-present in the book world. The novel's sequel, The Infinite Sea, is set to publish September 16th, 2014 followed by the third book sometime in 2015.
